I'm Donald Parlin, PA, Associate Medical Director of CHC Urgent Care. (That's me and a couple of my Urgent Care co-workers at the bottom of the post.)
Cold and Flu season has arrived in New England and it’s that time of year when more people find themselves visiting urgent cares for coughs, colds, congestion, fevers and those pesky germs and viruses that love to make the rounds.
Our Urgent Care team is always ready for you, but we'd be even happier if we could help you avoid getting sick in the first place.
A few simple reminders to help keep you and your family healthy this winter:
- Wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands! - it’s the easiest and most effective way to stop the spread of germs.
- Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Your sleeve or your elbow is your friend. And if you must go out, wear a mask.
- Stay home when you're sick, rest helps you recover and it helps protect others.
- Keep surfaces clean, those winter germs love doorknobs and countertops.
- Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water.
- And wash your hands!
While we hope you stay well here are a few times that visiting urgent care is a good idea:
- Your symptoms are getting worse and you're not improving.
- You're unable to get in with your primary care provider.
- You need to be evaluated for the Flu, COVID-19, Strep, Bronchitis, Pneumonia.
Stay warm, stay healthy and let's all do our part to stop the spread of colds and flu this season.
